New Delhi. Former cricketer Wasim Jaffer has given a different advice to Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Jaffer says that Rohit Sharma should bet on wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and promote him for the opening spot in the T20 format. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Pant has found a place in the team despite his low performance in the shortest format of the game.
Apart from Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik has also been successful in making his place in the team as a wicketkeeping option. Pant has played 58 T20 Internationals so far, in which he has scored 934 runs at an average of 23.94. His strike rate of 126.21 has been under question in recent times. The team management has also used Pant as an opener in two matches this year but he has failed to make a big impact on the given opportunities with scores of 26 and 1.

Despite this, Wasim Jaffer feels that Pant should get a chance in the opening. Referring to former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Jaffer said that he had played bets on Rohit in 2013. Promoted him as an opener, which worked well for the Mumbai player.
