As Pardes turns 25, Subhash Ghai recalls the magic behind making the film.

Mumbai . As Shah Rukh Khan and Mahima Choudhary starrer ‘Pardes’ completed 25 years of its release in Hindi cinema on Monday, filmmaker Subhash Ghai recalls all that went behind making the romantic musical drama. The 1997 film revolves around a man named Kishorilal, who seeks an Indian bride for his NRI son. He gets her engaged to Ganga, the daughter of his friend. However, she shares a deep bond with Kishorilal’s adopted son Arjun.

‘Pardes’, which also starred Apoorva Agnihotri, Alok Nath, Amrish Puri and Himani Shivpuri.

The film was the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1997 after ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, ‘Border’ and ‘Ishq’.

Ghai says, “’Pardes’ is a very dear film to me. I would like to congratulate the entire cast and crew and especially the audience for showering their love even after 25 years. My team tells me that Log Apna Pyaar Barsate Stay tuned. Even today, we remember iconic scenes in the digital space.”

Sharing more details on the same, he said, “‘Pardes’ celebrated the rich culture of our country. I had approached late Arun Jaitley ji to invite Vajpayee ji to our music launch. Also I love my The India song was also released before India’s 50th Independence Day.It was a huge co-event.

“My heart goes out to India, I can keep on describing the grandeur of this proud nation. It is yet another co-occurrence that today I am writing a song for the video ‘Ghar Ghar Tiranga’ to celebrate the 75th year. And I am building. Of our freedom.”

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made a place in the hearts of the audience with his stellar performance in ‘Pardes’.

The filmmaker said, “I kept reminding him in every scene and song that he had to escape his charming, romantic side to justify Arjun’s character. It was challenging for him but he nailed it!”
