Why did umpire Rudy Koertzen scold Virender Sehwag while batting? Veeru narrated an old story

New Delhi. Former Indian cricket team’s explosive opener Virender Sehwag says that whenever he used to play fast shots, he used to publicly scold South African umpire Rudi Koertzen. Sehwag has disclosed this on social media. Rudy Koertzen died in a car accident on Monday (9 August). There is a wave of mourning in the cricket world on the death of the former umpire of the ICC Elite Panel. Sehwag has also paid tribute to this legendary umpire.

Virender Sehwag shared two photos with Rudy Koertzen on his official Twitter handle. In the first photo, he is seen in Team India’s blue jersey while in the second photo Sehwag is seen batting in the Test jersey. Umpire Rudy Koertzen is also seen on the field in both photos. Veeru wrote the caption, ‘Condolences to Rudy Koertzen’s family. Had a very good relationship with him. Whenever I used to play flamboyant shots, he used to scold me saying that play wisely. I want to see your batting.

Rudy Koertzen officiated in 397 matches
Rudy Koertzen played the role of on-field and third umpire in 397 matches during his tenure. He has officiated in 128 Tests, a record 250 ODIs and 19 T20 Internationals. Kurtzen was considered one of the most respected umpires in the cricket world from the 1990s to 2010. He has officiated in about 400 matches at the international level.
