Tomato Flu: At present, there is not a single case of tomato flu in Delhi, cases of hand, foot and mouth diseases have increased.

New Delhi. Many cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) are being reported in Delhi-NCR hospitals for the last few days. Doctors say that there are no cases of tomato flu in Delhi, but there are frequent complaints of blisters in the hands, feet and mouth of children. Let us tell you that a variant of hand, foot and mouth disease is Tomato Flu. In such a situation, special vigilance is being taken in the hospitals of Delhi-NCR regarding HFMD. Recently, some cases of tomato flu were reported in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Every day 4-5 out of 100 children complain of blisters in their hands, feet and mouth in the OPDs of government hospitals in Delhi. Doctors believe that there is no need to panic, as more than 95 percent of children suffering from this disease are recovering at home. This disease usually affects children less than five years of age.

Dr. Vineet Relahan, the nodal officer appointed for monkeypox patients at LNJP Hospital, says in a conversation with News18 Hindi, “Tomato flu patients have not yet been found in the OPD of LNJP Hospital, but hand, foot and mouth disease Affected children are definitely coming. Every day four to five children come to this disease. Tomato flu causes tomato-sized red spots on the feet or other parts of the body. Whereas, HFMD patients have ulcers in the mouth. The disease spreads through the nose, throat, fluid from blisters and through phaco-oral route.

When do symptoms of tomato flu appear?
Fever, fatigue, red blisters develop on the skin due to tomato flu. Its spots appear like red blisters on the hands, feet, knees and buttocks. In such a situation, if there is a wound on the skin, then it should not be scratched. HMFD causes blisters inside the mouth. These symptoms start appearing on the body three to five days after coming in contact with the infected. These symptoms usually stay on the body for five to eight days.

The general treatment of children is also done in this disease. Paracetamol is given to children in case of fever. Pain medicine is given in case of pain. Along with this, more and more fluids and juices are asked to be consumed. If a child gets symptoms of this disease, then he should be quarantined for seven days.
