Robin Uthappa retires from international cricket; Will not play IPL now

New Delhi. Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa announced his retirement from all forms of cricket today i.e. on 14 September. Uthappa made his ODI debut on 15 April 2006 against England. In his debut match in Indore, Robin played an innings of 86 runs while opening. Uthappa has thanked everyone for the love and respect through an emotional post on social media. Robin Uthappa was known for his aggressive batting and represented India in both formats of white ball cricket. He played the last match for the country in 2015.

He tweeted, “It has been my greatest honor to represent my country and my state, Karnataka. However, all good things must come to an end. With a grateful heart, I have decided to retire from all forms of cricket.” Robin Uthappa He was a member of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2007.

Robin played professional cricket for 20 years

Robin Uthappa wrote in his post, “I have been playing professional cricket for 20 years. During this I got to play for India and my state Karnataka. This is a matter of pride for me. My journey has been beautiful. There have been many ups and downs, but every good thing has an end. That’s why I have decided to say goodbye to cricket.”

Uthappa further wrote, “I also want to thank Mumbai Indians, RCB, Pune and Rajasthan. Who gave me a chance to play in IPL. Also the team of Kolkata and Chennai is very special for me. Who took so much care of my family during IPL.

His career started with 50-over ODIs, he made his debut against England in Guwahati. He played in 46 ODIs in which he scored a total of 934 runs, with 86 being his highest score. Uthappa represented India in 13 T20Is, where he scored 249 runs at a strike-rate of 118.01.

Uthappa played for three IPL teams

Uthappa’s career at the international level faded after a few years and he did not find a place in the national team. His last ODI match was against Zimbabwe in 2015, where he scored 31 runs in 44 balls. However, Uthappa continued to play in domestic competitions and the Indian Premier League (IPL). He represented three franchises – Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings in T20 tournaments.

Uthappa played a total of 205 IPL matches, in which he scored 4952 runs at a strike rate of 130.35, including 27 half-centuries.

Was part of the 2007 T20 World Cup

Uthappa was part of Team India in the T20 World Cup played in 2007. India won this World Cup under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. When Robin was bowled out after the tie against Pakistan. Then he threw with Sehwag and Harbhajan. Due to which Team India got the victory. Along with this, the winner of IPL 2012, 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders and the winner of 2021 Chennai were a member of the team. Along with this, he was a member of the Karnataka team that won the Ranji Trophy 2013-14 and 2014-15 as well as the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2013-14 and 2014-15 and Irani Cup 2013-14 and 2014-15.
