Self-confessed actress Kangana Ranaut’s recently released film Dhaakad’s box office disaster has completely ruined Kangana Ranaut’s career. Kangana Ranaut’s film Dhaakad was released on May 20, but as soon as it was released, this film has proved to be a superflop. The film had collected only 50 lakhs on the first day and it is believed that the lifetime collection of the film will be only 3 crores. The flop of Kangana’s film has had a very bad effect. Now no OTT platform is buying this film and no satellite TV is ready to take it. Although these deals of OTT happen first, but the makers felt that if the film went on after release, then they would take a good deal from it.
As per a Bollywood Hungama report, a source said, “Generally, these rights are sold before the release. The amount received by selling the film to a streaming giant and television channel often helps the producers to earn profits. In the case of Dhaakad, the makers did not sell the rights before the release hoping for a better deal. Hence, there was no mention of OTT and satellite partners in the film’s opening slate, as it is happening nowadays.
The makers cannot expect to pay a decent amount for OTT and satellite rights after the way Dhaakad flopped badly at the ticket windows, the source said. Also, the news has already spread that the film is poorly made. Not to forget, this is an adult film and will need to be re-certified for TV premiere, and this is an extra process.
