House of the Dragon showrunner explains his early exit from the series

Los Angeles . House of the Dragon co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik has announced his withdrawal after only two episodes have aired. On August 31, Miguel Sapochnik announced his exit from the “House of the Dragon” series, after only two episodes aired, reports eonline.com.

Miguel Sapochnik said in a statement, “Working for GOT over the years has been an honor, especially spending time with the amazing cast and crew of ‘House of the Dragon.’ I am very proud of what I have done and am very happy with the enthusiastic response from my audience.”

According to HBO, “House of the Dragon” co-creator Ryan Condle, who also co-produced USA Networks Colony, will serve as the series’ sole showrunner next season.

Emmy-winning Game of Thrones veteran Alan Taylor will join the previously announced second season as an executive producer and director of several episodes.

“It was incredibly difficult to make the decision to move on, but I know it’s the right choice for me personally and professionally,” Miguel Sapochnik explained.

Despite stepping back from his major work, Sapochnik will remain as an executive producer throughout “House of the Dragon.”

“Miguel Sapochnik has done an amazing job on the first season of House of the Dragon, establishing its signature look and feel,” HBO said in a statement.

On August 28, the second episode of House of the Dragon was watched by 10.2 million viewers.
