CWG 2022: Virender Sehwag congratulates Hima Das for winning gold, people trolled fiercely

New Delhi. A misleading video related to India’s star sprinter Hima Das went viral on Saturday and due to this many people became victims of misunderstanding, including former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag. 3 days before the start of track and field events at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (Commonwealth Games 2022), the video related to Hima received more than 3 thousand likes and was retweeted more than 6 thousand times. Posted on Twitter with the handle ‘Pigassus’, the video claims that Hima Das won the 400m gold medal in Birmingham. This video is from the Under-20 World Athletics Championships held in Tampere, Finland in 2018, when this sprinter from Assam became the first Indian to win gold in the championship.

Sehwag also became a victim of this video and he tweeted that this star runner has won the gold medal in the 400 meters event of the Commonwealth Games. When Sehwag was told about this wrong information, he deleted this tweet. However, by then the fans started trolling Sehwag for wrong information. The tweet deleted by the cricketer said, ‘What a great win! Great start by Indian players. Many congratulations to Hima Das for winning the gold medal in the 400m event of the Commonwealth Games. It’s a shame.’

Received 2 medals so far
The track and field events of the Commonwealth Games will begin from August 2 at the Alexander Stadium. Hima has to take part in the 200 meter race, which will be held on 4 August. The semi-finals and finals of the event will be held on August 5 and 6 respectively. After this Virender Sehwag congratulated him by putting a photo of Sanket Mahadev Sargar. Weightlifter Sanket became the first Indian to win a medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Games. He won silver in 55 kg weight category. After this, another weightlifter Gururaj Pujari won the bronze.

Sehwag was trolled.

Meanwhile, more than 200 athletes from India are taking part in the Games. The games started on 28 July. For the first time, women’s cricket has also been included in this.
