Practices 8 hours a day. Waking up at five in the morning has become a part of his routine. Avni’s elder sister Vidushi has also participated in the National Championship in Table Tennis. Right now she is in 12th standard and is concentrating on her studies, however, she has turned away from table tennis. But, Avni got the inspiration to play from her sister and she has made it her passion.

Avni is currently a student of class VIII. On what she likes best in studies and sports, she says in a conversation with News18 Hindi, ‘I like to play more. I study too, but I want to play further. My aim is to get gold medal in Olympics. Keeping this in mind, I also practice. My parents have supported me a lot. If I become a champion, then all the credit goes to my parents and family.
Challenges before Avni
Although, Avni’s father says that this amount encourages, but this amount is nothing in comparison to the expenses incurred for the daughter’s training and participation in the championship. According to him, 4 to 5 lakh rupees are spent on Avni every year. It is not easy for a middle class family to bear this expense. This is the reason why many other talents are not able to progress.

If she continues to play at this pace, she will definitely play for the national one day. When I saw Avni for the first time, I felt like other children, but not taking any of her holidays, coming for practice even when she was ill and most importantly, she used to come for practice even when I was not there. . He doesn’t care whether I am in the academy or not. This kind of discipline and its nature slowly showed that it is going to go a long way. She is shy by nature, but when she is in court, she is a different girl. He is completely focused towards his game.

Avni’s mother Hemlata says in a conversation with News18 Hindi, ‘Avni has no particular age as of now, as she will be carved, she will become like that. While going for training in the morning, I definitely give him sattu. There is no specific diet right now. Sometimes she drinks juice in between so that energy is available. Proper food is given at night. Especially she likes paneer curry. Avni loves Poha and Jalebi. She never misses a single chance to eat it.

Although many people have a hand in Avni’s success, but the way father Durga Dutt and mother Hemlata are saving her career and giving right direction, she is an example for other parents. The UP Table Tennis Federation has also announced a reward of one lakh rupees to Avni for winning the competition. Avani had secured second position in the Invitational International Table Tennis Championship in Lalitpur, Nepal this year and finished third in the team category. Last year, Avani had secured the third position in the National Ranking Championship of Under-15 category held in Dehradun. Considering Manika Batra as her role model, she wants to win the Olympics for the country in 2028.
