  • Long Working Hours (43%): Many professionals work longer hours than they would like, which can hinder work-life balance.
  • Tight Deadlines (41%): The pressure to meet deadlines can add to the stress levels of IT workers.
  • Lack of Resources (41%): Not having the proper tools or personnel can make job tasks more difficult.
  • Unsupportive Management (41%): A lack of guidance and support from management can leave employees feeling isolated in their roles.

Many respondents indicated that high compensation, better career prospects, and more engaging work are key reasons they would consider leaving their jobs.

With advancements in areas like artificial intelligence (AI) and automation transforming the technology landscape, it’s critical for networking professionals to adapt. Joost Heins, head of intelligence at Randstad Enterprise, emphasizes that networking roles are evolving significantly due to these emerging technologies. Professionals are advised to focus on gaining skills in networking monitoring and automation, which can enhance their problem-solving capabilities while also reducing repetitive tasks.

New Certifications on the Horizon

In response to industry demands, CompTIA recently launched the CloudNetX certification, specifically for senior tech professionals wanting to verify their expertise in designing and implementing complex networking solutions across hybrid cloud environments. This certification requires at least ten years of IT experience and five years in a network architect role focused on hybrid clouds.

Katie Hoenicke, CompTIA’s Senior VP of Product Development, stated, “The demand for skilled network architects is increasing as companies embrace hybrid cloud solutions.” By validating their skills with certifications, seasoned network professionals can prove their expertise and stand out among their peers.

A strong concern among HR and IT leaders is the ongoing IT skills gap. A survey from Revature noted that 84% of HR and IT managers worry about finding qualified tech talent in the coming year. The same survey hinted that about 71% of respondents struggle to find the right talent with the necessary skills, and 57% face challenges with staffing timelines. Upskilling current employees is a strategy many plan to implement, but hurdles remain.

Over half of the leaders surveyed believe that specific technical skills like AI and machine learning are becoming essential, as organizations strive to integrate new technologies.

In light of skill shortages, CompTIA has also introduced an AI Essentials program to help professionals develop foundational skills in artificial intelligence. This program is aimed at providing learners with knowledge about AI applications, ethical considerations, and practical scenarios to enhance their understanding of AI in real-world situations.
