I Live Next to a Costco Business Center: 5 Unique Finds You Won’t See at a Regular Costco
Moving to my current home, I found myself living right next to a Costco Business Center. Honestly, I had no idea these places existed! For months, I assumed it was only for business owners since there were hardly any cars parked outside. But one day, my curiosity got the better of me. I decided to sneak in and see what it was all about. To my surprise, anyone with a Costco membership can shop there, just like the regular Costco warehouses.
While some products overlap—like the grocery items and the members-only gas station that offers savings on fuel—the Business Center has some fantastic options you won’t find elsewhere. If you’re lucky enough to live near one, here are five reasons to check it out.
1. Bulk Meat Options That Will Surprise You
When you think of buying meat in bulk, you might picture large packs of chicken or ground beef at a regular Costco. However, at a Costco Business Center, “bulk” takes on a new meaning! They cater to restaurants and businesses, so you can find products like whole pigs or goats.
While I don’t have the equipment to cook such large cuts, I did manage to score amazing savings on ground beef and chicken. Plus, the next time I host a barbecue, I’m definitely heading there for ribs and steaks. Who knows, I might even buy a big freezer—I’ve seen them for around $100—to stock up on these fantastic deals!
2. A Wider Variety of Beverages and Snacks
Imagine stepping into a Costco where the middle aisles are filled with drinks and snacks instead of clothes or books. That’s what you get at a Costco Business Center! The selection here is much larger, with cans of soda, juices, and energy drinks sold in greater quantities.
For instance, I love getting San Pellegrino sparkling water, which I haven’t seen at the regular Costco. I also stocked up on juice boxes for family gatherings. On the snack side, you’ll find plenty of single-serving options like bags of chips and candy. If you want to be the hero of Halloween, this is where you can find full-sized candy bars!
3. Commercial Equipment and Office Supplies
Forget about home appliances; the Costco Business Center offers a treasure trove of commercial kitchen equipment and office supplies. If you’re the one in the family who loves deep-frying during festivals, you can even buy a professional-grade deep fryer! Or maybe you often run out of ice during parties? They have commercial ice machines too.
While most of the supplies may not be for a typical household, I’ve spotted large fridges and freezers that could fit nicely in any garage. They’re perfect for storing all the bulk meat and beverages you’re buying! You can also find all your office supplies—staplers, papers, and pens—here at great prices.
4. Earlier Opening Hours
Another great perk is that Costco Business Centers open much earlier than regular warehouses. While normal Costco locations start welcoming shoppers at 10:00 AM, Business Centers open at 7:00 AM for everyone! This is fantastic if you need to grab something before the regular store opens. Sure, they close earlier too—around 6:00 PM—but those early hours can really be convenient!
5. Less Crowded Shopping Experience
One of my absolute favorite things about the Costco Business Center is the lack of crowds. Unlike regular Costco locations, where you’re always elbowing your way through aisles, the Business Center usually has only a few shoppers. I’ve never had to wait in line for long, which makes my visits way more enjoyable!
A Quick Note on Downsides
While the Costco Business Center has a lot to offer, I still find myself visiting the regular Costco too. The selection of cheese and fresh produce isn’t as extensive, and you won’t find as many prepared meals. Additionally, with only 27 locations across the country, not everyone will have easy access to one.
