Reasons Storm The Ramparts is Sydney’s Most Reliable Winter Star!

Is Storm The Ramparts the Most Reliable Horse This Winter in Sydney?

When it comes to consistency in horse racing, particularly this winter season in Sydney, it’s hard to look past Storm The Ramparts. This remarkable horse has proven to be a standout performer, leaving fans and trainers alike wondering if there has been any horse as consistent and powerful as him.

Recently, trainer Joe Pride shared his thoughts on Storm The Ramparts’ impressive performance. “He’s been going super,” says Pride confidently. He knows that the changing conditions can be tricky for winter horses, especially when they have to deal with drier tracks. However, this weekend looks promising with a much firmer track expected. Storm The Ramparts has already impressed on moderately dry tracks and is gearing up for another big show.

It’s worth noting that this weekend will be a jump for Storm The Ramparts as he steps up from 78-grade racing to an 88-benchmark. But given his history of making his own luck and his consistent performance, he’s definitely a horse to watch. “He’ll be hard to beat again,” Pride added, radiating optimism.

One of the main reasons for Storm The Ramparts’ prowess is his pedigree. He’s sired by Headwater, whose offspring can sometimes be inconsistent, much like a poorly made beer – exciting at first but prone to losing fizz quickly. However, Storm The Ramparts seems to break this trend, especially thanks to his mother, Quick’s The Word. Pride mentioned that he’s a half-brother to Dragonstone, which likely boosts his performance and capabilities.

“He’s a dream horse to own,” Pride said, appreciating every moment of his journey with Storm The Ramparts. He isn’t bothered by the term “wet-tracker” often used by owners. Instead, he embraces the fact that if Storm The Ramparts thrives on wet tracks, so be it.

But Pride has more than one horse in the mix. He also has Estadio Mestalla and Accredited competing in the Winter Challenge. These two horses recently battled it out for the finish alongside Robusto, and Pride believes they can come out on top again. “I’ll be shocked if my two or Robusto don’t win,” he stated, showing strong faith in his horses.

“Estadio Mestalla has been racing well and will again look for luck at the front, while Accredited has shown that he performs much better on dry tracks.” Accredited had a rough time on a soft 7 track in his last race, but with the upcoming firmer conditions, Pride believes he’ll show significant improvement.

Shifting focus to the future, Pride is also excited about Reflect, a two-year-old filly he trains for Think Big Stud. Reflect has already made her race debut and has shown great promise, leading Pride to believe that her potential will continue to grow as she matures. The colours of Think Big Stud are famous, linked to the late owner Dato Tan Chin Nam.

Exciting news for the future includes several Godolphin horses heading to Pride’s stable next month. Among them is Golden Mile, who won the prestigious Caulfield Guineas, as well as Comedy, a promising two-year-old colt ready to make waves.

Thompson’s Hopes with With Your Blessing

While Joe Pride prepares for the weekend, trainer John Thompson is focusing on his horse With Your Blessing for the July Sprint at Rosehill. Although Thompson won’t be participating in the Winter Challenge this year—having bagged the win last year with an outsider—he remains optimistic about With Your Blessing’s fresh record after a 14-week break.

With Your Blessing has shown remarkable form in training, winning his last two trials at Canterbury and Hawkesbury. “He’s going really well,” said Thompson. After a successful summer campaign on good tracks, he has the potential to come back strong in this race.

This six-year-old horse has earned more than $568,205 over 29 starts. His career highlights include six wins and multiple placements, showcasing his talent for success, especially when racing fresh.

Thompson also aims to replicate his success from last week, where his horse Bundeena won a benchmark race at Randwick. The Spirit Of Boom gelding made a great comeback after a challenging prior season.

As we look forward to more thrilling races this winter season, all eyes will be on these promising horses and their trainers!
