Friday night was special. Ambassador Mr Chung-Kwang Tien, Representative, Taipei Economic & Cultural Centre, in India and Taiwan Tourism Bureau, specially flew in from New Delhi to welcome U-Theatre Group in India.
This group is here to perform at Mood Indigo, IIT Bombay’s prestigious cultural festival, Saturday 27th December 2014 at 10:30PM.
He addressed us all explaining why a visit to Taiwan is a must and encouraged the group to put in their best performance, their first in India.
The group is well known for its artistic, percussions, dance, martial arts moves, meditation and sheer energy that synthesises all these ingredients into a poetry that is a fusion of the tradition and the modern, truly demonstrating the excellence. As a matter of fact the Chinese word for Excellence, is similar to the letter “U” pronounced in English.
The drumming master and music director, Mr Chih-Chun Huang, looked every inch a martial art expert and very humble in his disposition. He said he had visited India earlier in his quest for spiritualism. He is associated with the U-Theatre Group since 1993. Towards the end of the evening he even took part in an impromptu group song and dance before calling it a day, and what a day it was!
