Lavasa Women’s Drive 2011
They are off! Time is 7:00am.
2011 women in over 500 cars participate in the car rally for evoking awareness of Breast Cancer.
Lavasa Women’s Drive is a joint effort by Lavasa and Bombay Times and managed by Western India Automobile Association (WIAA).
This is the third year in running and the proceeds would go towards enhancing women’s cancer department of Tata Memorial Hospital.
One could see many types of cars in myriad colors, shapes and brands making bee-line to the venue and were flagged off. Every car had been decorated to a theme and each had a message to the world.
“Roke na koi ab hame…” the theme song or anthem was playing in the background, joined in by a lot of women of all ages.
We could see that the enthusiasm was contagious.
Arjun Rampal and Meher Jessia and later Priya Dutt made an appearance and flagged off a few rally cars.
Anuradha Paraskar, VP at Lavasa said that she was overwhelmed by the response and has planned a lot of entertainment programmes at Lavasa lakeside.
All the best to the participants!
